My creative skills this week have been completely and totally focused in the direction of one spunky 13 year old's birthday. I have always loved putting together fun 'themed' parties every year for birthdays but as the girls get older, it gets harder to be creative, while keeping it age-appropriate. Maybe it's because I'm getting old and tired, but taking a couple of friends to a movie sounds like a great party these days! Well, she decided she wanted to take a couple of friends to the mall for her birthday this year. (because that's what 13 year old's do?) Because I was born who I am, somehow the couple of friends to the mall turned into 6 friends to the mall for a scavenger hunt, complete with the cutest. giftbags. ever.
I happened to come by this idea either by luck or sheer genius. Probably the genius, pretty sure. After watching this video, I was able to make 8 of these 'purses' in less than 45 minutes. That's my kind of cuteness!
Then I used some old t-shirts from my 'to donate' pile to make hair flowers. I found the idea for this through my dear friend pinterest, from this blog. Which sparked all kinds of ideas in my brain. Which I may or may not ever get around to. But they are totally easy, absolutely fun flowers, that I think I would even wear!
I put the cupcakes into plastic cups to protect them (also from pinterest) and covered them with decorated plastic bags. This should help immensely during the transport to the mall.
Here is a link to the pdf of the scavenger hunt. I used ideas from a few that I found online and threw in a few of my own.
